Mental Health Days in the waters of Ogliastro …
July 14, 2009
Because waters around Naples are full of merde (seriously, it seems there is a problem with the water treatment facility in that it is not treating the sewage, but discharging it into the gulf — oops, someone flushed too soon), husband, Dalmation and I headed South towards the Amalfi Coast and past Paestum, past Palinuro to Ogliastro, where the green, clear water remains clean and the beaches relatively free of Napoletani. Thanks to the financial crisis for that.
We stayed with some pals in Ogliastro who had just returned from their resort village called Kalume on the Kradan Island in Trang, Thailand. www.kalumekradan.com for more info. They were relaxed, tanned, but starved for Italian pasta, pizza and red meat, which apparently is a scarce commodity in Thailand. This is definitely on my to visit lists, if not this year, then 2010.
